Vehicle Tracking

Vehicle Tracking Solutions

Vehicle Tracking System is a system used to track the location of the any vehicle around the globe. It is based on the GPS (Global Positioning System). Vehicle Tracking System has become a necessity for business owners around the globe trying to manage a fleet. This is used to locate the cars, motorbikes or any vehicles. The focus of a GPS based vehicle Tracking System is to make use of the knowledge of vehicle’s location and apply its network attributes such as the stops, timing, available alternative emergency routes and other such constraints in order to optimize opportunities for productivity and cost reduction.

Now, that GPS based solutions are available and affordable, its benefits are no longer limited to long-haul trucking companies but also to a host of other services. This is used for company fleet management.

Methodology

A vehicle tracking system combines the use of automatic vehicle location in individual vehicles with software that collects these fleet data for a comprehensive picture of vehicle locations. In passive tracking system a hardware device installed in the vehicle store GPS location, speed, heading and a trigger event such as key on/off, door open/closed. When vehicle returns to a specific location device is removed and data downloaded to computer. Real time tracking system was required that can transmit the collected information about the vehicle after regular intervals or at least could transmit the information when required by monitoring station.

Active systems were developed that transmit vehicle’s data in real time via cellular or satellite networks to a remote computer or data center. Many vehicle systems that are in use now days are some form of Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL). It is a concept for determining the geographic location of a vehicle and transmitting this information to a remotely located server. The location is determined using GPS and transmission mechanism could be a satellite, terrestrial radio cellular connection from the vehicle to a radio receiver, satellite or nearby cell tower. After capture, the tracking data can be transmitted using any choice of telemetry or wireless communications systems. GSM is the most common used service for this purpose.

Deployment

One of the fast-growing GPS applications is vehicle tracking. GPS-equipped fleet vehicles, public transportation systems, delivery trucks, and courier services use receivers to monitor their locations at all times. Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) is a technologically advanced method of remote vehicle tracking and monitoring using GPS. Each vehicle is equipped with a module that receives signals from a series of satellites, and calculates its current geographical location, speed, and heading.

This information can be stored for later retrieval or, frequently, transmitted to a central dispatch/control location where it is displayed on a high-resolution geographical map. Important factor in GPS is the much accuracy and speed. Global Positioning System (GPS) systems, combined with mobile telephony system (GSM), give you the power to rapidly locate or track any vehicle in your fleet (or, where applicable, other types of movable assets). You have the assurance of knowing where your fleet is, where it has been, and in which direction it is headed.

Unlike some past systems, you do not need your own base station infrastructure and you are not limited to a local geographic coverage area. GPS is a satellite navigation system designed to provide instantaneous position, velocity and time information almost anywhere on the globe at any time, and in any weather. It gathers and stores GPS satellite signals, showing the exact location visited by the vehicle, how long it was there, speeds en route and the time the vehicle left each location. We can remotely transmit the GPS position using the GSM network and SMS. We can send telemetry data as an SMS text message. This means that assets can be seamlessly and reliably tracked almost anywhere in the world.

Vehicle Tracking

The Vehicle Tracking GPS satellite gives the exact position of the device which is situated in the Car. This device is in turn which is connected to the local GSM service provider via a GSM network as it has SIM card present in it thus the GPS parameters which the device has are send to the tracking server which has a Static IP address via a GPRS network. The tracking server consists of a Socket listener application running in the back-ground which listens at a particular port. The GPS parameters received by the port listener are given to the Parser and converter for proper conversions and this data is stored in the database. These values from the database are fetched and are manipulated to get the reports in proper format. Vehicle Tracking

Benefits

1.Real Time Vehicle Tracking
One of the dominant features of today’s GPS tracking systems is the ability to monitor fleets in real time. You can track the movement of your vehicle on a virtual map when it moves from one point to another. This helps in quick route management in case of obstacles and in quick disaster management, in case, something of the kind happens. Also, you will be able to see the vehicle speed along with the details of its location, status (whether it is in a parked state or moving condition) etc. Hence, multiple vehicles can be managed effortlessly using the feature.

2.Trip History – Vehicle Tracking
It is a useful feature that you can undoubtedly rely upon. With this feature, you can track all the trips made by your vehicle, so far. Using GPS devices, you will be able to obtain information such as kilometres covered by the vehicle, idling, stoppages, average speed and engine performance. These details provide value to business professionals as well as chauffeurs.

3.Alerts – Vehicle Tracking
Most of the fleet owners prefer the tracking systems that offer real time alerts. Some of the alerts that you will receive via a vehicle tracking system includes start time alert, route deviation alert, over speeding alert, needless stoppage alert, etc. Apart from this, you can also add extra features to certain system such as maintenance alerts, theft alerts, etc.

4.Anytime, anywhere access – Vehicle Tracking
Today, you can get access to information at your fingertips anytime and from anywhere. A vehicle tracking system is a reliable investment as it is accessible both on the web as well as the smart phone. This proves useful to parents and fleet managers to easily monitor the vehicles from anywhere, without any inconvenience.

5.Geo Fencing
Geofencing feature takes you to the next level of alert customization. You will be able to create geographical boundaries called geofences on the map around a particular area as per your preference. Whenever the vehicle enters or exits the geofence, you may get an instant alert on your phone. This alert may help you to achieve operational efficiency, high security, and improve employee growth.

6.Route violation
Get SMS alert when driver violates predefined route and go by wrong route

7.Over speed alert
This option provide sms alert when your vehicle cross maximum speed limit which you predefined

8.Audio surveillance
This function provides you live audio or conversation happening near to device.

9.On / off status
This function provides the status of our ignition in on or off and also provide information about ignition in on or off status when and where it was started, also provide ac status of AC on or off how much time using ac in your car

10. Decreasing Paper Work
Vehicles using robust fleet management software diminishes the measure of printed material that drivers need to round out. As the vehicle tracking software gives detailed data on the whereabouts of the vehicle, drivers require not enter it on records. The software expands the precision of records just abolishing paper work.

11.Burglary Prevention
Fleet organizations incline toward GPS based software in their vehicle because of theft prevention. The GPS vehicle tracking software gives consistent location updates of the vehicle, it is anything but difficult to discover the lost vehicle’s area. This enables police to rapidly discover the vehicle, capture the criminal and restore your vehicle.

12.Decreasing fuel costs
Smarter driving to enhance driver proficiency comes from taking care of excessive idling and prevention of fuel pilferage along with over speeding alerts. Data gathered from business using GPS can enable organizations to diminish their fuel costs ultimately. While gas costs are rising currently, diminishing fuel expenses will help spare some cash now and, conceivably, a great deal later on when gas costs rise once more.
